The Strombo Show ran the gamut this Sunday night, keeping the spirit of radio alive by delivering the best records in the best order. It’s a show for music lovers by music lovers, ranging over three hours of commercial-free music to honour both old and new.

George Stroumboulopoulos was joined by Chilly Gonzales for a musical masterclass and director Richard Linklater dropped in to celebrate his latest project, Everybody Wants Some!!.

Gonzales holds the Guinness world record for the longest solo concert of all time. He has been a rapper, pianist, super villain and arranger, and his collaborative projects feature Jarvis Cocker, Feist, Drake and Daft Punk. While on sabbatical from his European home, returning to North America, Gonzo explores musical theory with George and performs intimate renditions from his album Chambers.

Linklater is the mind behind Boyhood, the Before Sunset trilogy and the coming-of-age film Dazed And Confused. The latter is referred to as a spiritual sequel of sorts for his latest, Van Halen-testifying project, Everybody Wants Some!!. Linklater delves into his own experience with college baseball, the fear-instilled Reagan era and his relationship with the soundtrack of his films.

Also, George celebrates the beats, rhythm and life of Phife Dawg before unleashing exclusive song premieres from Tokyo Police Club, White Lung, Greys, Los Poetas and Silver Pools.

You know what to do. Lock It. Crank it! Join the collective.
