Hannah Georgas has returned with an album that honours her grandmother and celebrates uncertainty. With layers of keyboard hooks and melodies, For Evelyn is a triumphant return. The Juno and Polaris-nominated singer-songwriter sits down with George to discuss the record, the influence of her grandmother Evelyn, her pop-punk high school group that was the Toronto Rock’s house band, anxiety and the undeniable influence of TLC. In part of our ongoing House of Strombo series, she’ll perform exclusive renditions of For Evelyntracks, including a premiere in a very special midnight session.
Behemoth is the mighty Polish death quartet and its leader, Adam “Nergal” Darski, is the guitarist, frontman and lyricist who has weathered death threats, stood trial before the Supreme Court, released 10 albums, two biographies and survived cancer. Raised Catholic, he picked up a guitar and found inspiration in Norway’s Black Circle. In thorough conversation, Nergal explores faith, health, The Satanist and his upcoming country-blues record.
Also, Steve Bays of Hot Hot Heat drops by to hand-deliver an exclusive song premiere from their upcoming and final self-titled release.
