The Cult | The Strombo Show

“It’s not just music for entertainment. It’s ritualistic, and connects you to the great mystery. That’s the best possible place art can take us.” — Ian Astbury, the Cult

The Strombo Show ran the gamut this Sunday night, keeping the spirit of radio alive by delivering the best records in the best order. It’s a show for music lovers by music lovers, ranging over three hours of commercial-free music to honour both old and new.

George Stroumboulopoulos welcomed a special, exclusive performance from the legendary band the Cult.

The Cult formed as a post-punk, gothic band in the early ’80s and became an anthemic, stadium-packing monster. The band recently unleashed Hidden City, its 10th album, which reflects on the decline of the music industry and the rise of digital, global conflict and economic uncertainties. Founding members Ian Astbury (frontman) and Billy Duffy (guitarist), explored their catalogue with George, and shared their thoughts toward the modern rock genre and Kanye West before performing an intimate and sweaty session in the House of Strombo.

You know what to do: Lock it. Crank it! Join the collective.
